For ilmenite recovery, the combination of multiple methods is often better than the single dressing method, which can better improve the grade and recovery of the ore. At present, there are four kinds of combined separation methods for ilmenite in China, namely magnetic separation + flotation, gravity separation + flotation, magnetic separation + gravity separation, gravity separation + magnetic separation + flotation + electrical separation, etc.
In the processing of ilmenite, it is always a difficult problem to recover the fine size. In mineral processing, the flotation method can only realize the recovery of granular ilmenite less than 0.02mm to a certain extent, but there will be a lot of quartz and other veins in the fine ore powder after flotation, which seriously affects the flotation quality. Therefore, before flotation, the ore can be magnetic separation. After the two are combined, the grade of concentrate and the total recovery will be much better than the single magnetic separation or flotation.
The ilmenite can be recovered by gravity separation and flotation, which has a good selective effect on the ilmenite with grade less than 6%. The grade of ilmenite selected by this method can be directly increased to more than 30% after reprocessing, and the final grade of titanium concentrate can reach 47%, the recovery rate is close to 30%, and the grade of sulfur concentrate can reach 40% at the same time. From these data, it is not difficult to see that this method can better improve the utilization of resources.
For ilmenite, although a single gravity or magnetic separation can complete the task of selection, but magnetic - gravity combined process is undoubtedly better, and can reduce production costs, increase benefits. With this method, the grade of concentrate can reach 50% and the recovery can reach 80%.
If the gangue in the raw ore is dominated by titanopxene and plagioclase, and contains sulfide minerals, then the reprocessing can be carried out first, then the plagioclase can be thrown away, then the desulfurization operation can be carried out by flotation method, and finally the titanopxene can be removed by electric separation. Through this combination scheme, the ore grade and utilization rate can be improved better, and this method is also good for the lower grade ilmenite.
The above four combinations are mainly for the processing of ilmenite. It is important to note that the owner should scientifically select the single or combined process recommended in the mineral dressing test report to remove the associated minerals and effectively recover the concentrate.
